Commercial MTA

A commercial MTA is proprietary sending software licensed for a fee. PowerMTA and Momentum, the products that defined the high-volume tier and are now sold by Bird, remain the incumbents, alongside Halon, MailerQ, and GreenArrow. Commercial MTAs bundle vendor support and deliverability tooling; their per-message or per-instance licensing is the main economic driver of migrations at high volume.
